Mikey General is one of reggae’s most respected voices in conscious music, known for his smooth high tenor and powerful messages of faith, positivity, and spiritual awareness. Born Michael Taylor in the UK and raised in Jamaica, he began singing in school and church choirs before performing on top Kingston sound systems like Kilamanjaro at a young age.

By the 1980s, Mikey built a strong presence in the UK reggae scene, touring Europe alongside acts such as Maxi Priest and Smiley Culture. His breakout moment came with “Dancehall Vibes,” earning him major recognition.

Returning to Jamaica, Mikey became a key member of the Xterminator Crew led by Luciano, helping to restore consciousness in reggae music. He later co-founded Jah Messenjah Productions and Qabalah First Music, releasing acclaimed projects like Spiritual Revolution and Exalt Jah.

With a career spanning decades, standout albums such as Red Green & Gold, Confidence in Self, and African Story, African Glory have solidified his legacy. His 2022 album Hold A Heights continues his mission of uplifting reggae, featuring songs like “Integrity” and “Look Within.”
